Mother loved the 91st psalm. She and Dad claimed
that for their life verses. The last few verses blessed her a lot in the last
few years of her life.
| 14: "Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will
I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. |
| 15: "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be
with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. |
| 16: "With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my
salvation." |
Mother was very thrilled and told me "Marnie, just think about this. Because He hath set His love upon me, therefore, He will deliver me. Not because I set my love on Him but because He set His love on me! Isn’t
that precious, Marnie?"
And then He goes on, – because I have known His name and belong
to Him, He will set me on high! Look at how positive the next verse is. First of
all, remember He set His love on me and gave me His name – so that when I call on
the Lord, He gives us seven promises:
- I will answer him.
- I will be with him in trouble.
- I will deliver him.
- I will honour him.
- I will give him a long life.
- I will satisfy his needs.
- I will show him my salvation.

It was a thrill to learn from Mama.
All my life I heard about this Psalm. The first verse:
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall
abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
Mother talked about being protected under His wings and having
the Shadow of the Almighty cover us and protect us. We are safe.
Verse 11. "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep
thee in all thy ways."
Mother talked about this as well as the verse in Ps 34:
Ps 34:7 "The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that
fear him, and delivereth them."
She would tell us that God’s angels have set up camp around our home to
protect us. God sent His angels to watch over us. What a feeling of safety and protection we felt because of God’s protection, love and care.
